Kicks and Glides

Class Objective

  •  Level 2 (Perch) is designed to continue building on the teachings of Level 1, introduce and strengthen independence, and introduce more advanced swim techniques

Teaching Goals

  • Pool/class rules
  • Water safety
  • Basic leg and arm movement in water
  • Roll over front to back
  • Roll over back to front
  • Controlled breathing
  • Streamline and glides with breathing
  • Introduction to treading

Qualifications To Advance

  • Roll front to back and back to front
  • Unsupported jump in the water to a back float
  • Unsupported jump in the water and get back to the wall
  • Kick off the wall and streamline with breathing and kicking for 10 yards front
  • Kick off the wall and streamline with kicking 10 yards back
  • Tread water for 10 seconds
